Sweetwater

Sweetwater

Posted by Chanel Friscia on April 12, 2020

Why use bitter soup for healing when Sweetwater is everywhere? -Rumi

Many moons in the making, Megan of @sweetwateronline and I have been working to get this project out into the universe. We’re both mothers, partners, and business owners so life can really fly by!

Megan reached out to me on a whim. At the time we had never spoken and lived on opposite ends of the state. Asking if I’d be interested in a collaboration project, she obviously found the right girl. I had been daydreaming of having my candles in unique ceramic pieces and the universe aligned when she messaged.

Over the course of the project, I learned about glazing and shrinking and shared the nitty gritty of candle testing. It took some time to work out all the details but we present to you an all purpose piece full of magick.

It’s our intention to have crafted something that you can feel good about. Providing a natural, 100% clean burning candle made from pure beeswax in a handmade (food safe and reusable!) ceramic vessel.

Now that you’re familiar with a bit of the history behind this collaboration project we’re ready to discuss the fun stuff! This project is so important to us because it combines both of our crafts in a way that is sustainable and one of a kind. Each vessel is similar in shape and size but has its own unique characteristics. It’s not your standard glass jar from Yankee Candle that you’ll toss once the candle is burnt out.

Each of these triple wicked beeswax candles will burn for 30+ hours when maintained properly. After the wax is spent, simply boil some water and pour it into the vessel to remove any remnants. Once your vessel is clean, repurpose it!

Our present day society profits a disturbing amount on single use items. Landfills all around the world are overflowing with trash. This project offers something different. Something you won’t just toss into the trash once the candle is extinguished. Beeswax is the only sustainable and eco-friendly wax on the market (you can read more about why we’re so passionate about beeswax *here*) and the vessels they come in are made in small batches by a local artist. When you purchase a Sweetwater x WMH candle, you’re supporting two small businesses, countless bees, and our planet.

Every small change makes a difference. Every purchase from a small business makes a difference. Every decision we make to be more conscious about the imprint we’re making on the planet, you guessed it, MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

Below I’ve listed a few ideas for ways these vessels can be repurposed so that you can make a difference.

To catch your change

To catch your keys

For salt in the kitchen

For your crystals

For dessert (this one’s my favorite)

As a chalice for your altar

Each vessel is a work of art. Their dreamy, yet earthy colors and details, are meant to be admired and displayed. Get creative and let us know how you’re reusing your vessel. They’re food safe and the wax is non-toxic and 100% natural. The options are limitless for ways to repurpose these pieces, making it a gift that keeps on giving!
